Diploma in Forestry

Description:

The Diploma in Forestry is designed to prepare graduates to enter the Forestry sector as paraprofessionals at the middle management/supervisory level. It exposes participants to the principles and practices of management of forests for multiple uses; timber, watershed, recreation, biodiversity, aesthetics, education and research. Emphasis is also placed on conservation of the environment. In addition, graduates of this programme can transfer into a university to read for the Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Studies or other related fields of study.

Entry Requirements

  • Passes in a minimum of five (5) subjects at CXC (CSEC) General Proficiency level in Grades I or II and from 1998, Grade III which must include Mathematics, English Language and a Science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Integrated Science, Agricultural Science or Biology not Health Science or Human and Social Biology). Agricultural Science, double award, is considered as two subjects; OR
  • GCE O’ Levels including Grades A, B or C in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry and Physics; OR
  • Completion of UTT’s Pre-University Programme (PUP) programme with a minimum of 50% in ALL attempted subject areas; OR Other equivalent qualifications may also be considered
