Diploma in Fashion Management

Description:

The Caribbean Academy of Fashion Design (CAFD) Diploma in Fashion Management programme prepares students for a variety of careers within the global marketplace.  The programme addresses the business aspect of the apparel industry, the aim of which is to develop professionals in Fashion Marketing, Merchandising, the dynamics of Fashion Retail Management and Product Development. Students are imprinted with a basic marketing foundation while gaining knowledge of the international fashion industry and product cycles.

Entry Requirements:

  • Passes in a minimum of five (5) subjects at CXC (CSEC) General Proficiency level in Grades I or II and from 1998, Grade III or equivalent GCE O’ Levels including Grades A, B or C in  Mathematics, English Language and a business subject; OR
  • Completion of UTT’s Pre–University Programme (PUP) with a minimum of 50% in ALL attempted subject areas.

 

ALL applicants are required to also submit the following along with the application:

  • Applicants must choose two (2) advertisements of fashion products; one you determine to be effective, and the other, less persuasive. Write a five hundred (500) word essay giving reasons why you believe one is more effective than the other; AND
  • A letter of intent stating why you desire to study Fashion. This exercise helps the admission panel identify those individuals who are serious about pursuing a career in Fashion Management.

 

Mature Student entry:

An applicant who does not satisfy all the stipulated minimum academic or technical qualifications for admission to a programme may be accepted as a Mature Student. He/she would need to possess the critical elements of the stipulated qualification and would be assessed as possessing a combination of qualifications and educational or experiential maturity to enable him/her to successfully participate in the programme.
