Description:

The Diploma in Agriculture programme provides formal agricultural education to meet the needs of the Agricultural Sector for skilled technicians who can produce food efficiently and bridge the gap between the farmer and the agricultural professional.  Students integrate practical experience in agricultural production with technical and scientific information that is required to successfully operate food production enterprises. Graduates will achieve an understanding of the biological and ecological aspects of farming systems which will lead to sustainable agricultural production. In addition, graduates of this programme can be gain fully employed in the public/private sector, become agri-entrepreneurs or transfer into a university to read for the Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture.

Entry Requirements

  • Passes in a minimum of five (5) subjects at CXC (CSEC) General Proficiency level in Grades I or II and from 1998, Grade III which must include Mathematics, English Language and a Science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Integrated Science, Agricultural Science or Biology not Health Science or Human and Social Biology). Agricultural Science, double award, is considered as two subjects; OR
  • GCE O’ Levels including Grades A, B or C in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry and Physics; OR
  • Completion of UTT’s Pre-University Programme (PUP) with a minimum of 50% in ALL attempted subject areas.
