To oversee overall coordination of Welding and Fabrication/Construction Unit and optimize its efficiency
Supervise, coach and guide the Welding and Fabrication/Construction Team in the day to day operations of the department
Support the supervision of site/ project personnel and ensuring best utilisation of resources
Apply Project Management best practices in the delivery of projects
Coordinate of the activities of the Welding & Fabrication/Construction Team and organize workforce to accomplish workload in timeframe given
Ensure the dispatch of work crew for each job (onshore and offshore) contain even distribution of skill and experience Monitor labour outputs whilst ensuring maximum productivity
Monitor equipment allocation and assist in the production of weekly look ahead
Ensure that all targets are met whilst maintaining required Company and clients' required standards Control budgets and project expenditure within the business units
Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications
Communicate with supervisors, peers and senior management in an acceptable manner.
Monitor and review information relating to welding and fabricating to detect or assess problems
Estimate sizes, distances and quantities; or determine time, cost, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity
Achieve project obligations
Conduct site visits prior to starting jobs, to ensure that client requirements can be met
Liaise with the Proposals Engineer for participation in the preparation process and submission of tenders
Perform the planning of welding and fabrication jobs which includes the scheduling of human resource, equipment and construction material
Ensure that all jobs are conducted in accordance with Stork HSEQ procedures. This includes ensuring the preparation of the Task Based Risk Assessments and facilitating the discussion of valid HSEQ issues during Toolbox Talk Meetings and Site Safety Meetings
Collect and examine all job tickets ensuring the accurate accountability of all labour, equipment and materials on a daily basis
Coordinate, and when necessary attend site visits and clarification meetings as required
Liaise with clients to address any issues which may arise during the course of the job
Serve as the communication link between management and the construction department for operational, HSEQ and welfare issues
Job Requirements
Technical qualification as evidenced by a Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical/Civil/Industrial Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution
Minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar Supervisory/Leadership role within the Welding & Fabrication/Construction
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including MS Word/ Excel/ Access/ Outlook / Project Management/Planning
Must be able to follow and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, layout specifications and processing charts
Must have a working knowledge of the quality standards required for welding and fabrication for industrial applications
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Effective analytical skills
Good Communication, presentation, interpersonal and leadership skills
