A. JOB FUNCTION
The Warehouse Supervisor is a highly focused and reliable individual responsible for coordinating and supervising all warehouse activities on a daily basis to meet productivity targets. The Supervisor is responsible for supervising assigned employees in the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. This position is also responsible for securing the warehouse and following safety protocol.
B. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervise and coordinate the most efficient unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, and the picking and staging of outbound deliveries in accordance with the highest possible levels of quality. • Ensure all products are stocked correctly and safely. • Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction through excellence in receiving, identifying, dispatching and assuring quality of goods. • Coordinate all delivery of inventory to all branches ensuring 100% adherence to all operational procedures in order to maintain the security of inventory. • Oversee store shuffles and transfers. • Oversee fulfillment of website orders. • Provide timely service to sales department while minimizing warehouse and production costs. • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. • Maintain inventory by conducting monthly physical counts; reporting on and reconciling variances; inputting data. • Monitor warehouse space and tracks stock levels including setting aside storage area for new stock. • Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all materials and equipment and ensure all products are being moved in a safe and timely manner. • Oversee all warehouse staffing schedules including temporary workers and adjusts accordingly to ensure adequate staffing levels that support operational demands and business objectives. • Direct the operations of the assigned work team to achieve prescribed objectives. • Schedules equipment maintenance in collaboration with Operations Officer. • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area ensuring all security policies and procedures are always followed. • Ensure all OSHA standards are met along with all safety and environmental health standards. • Ensure all associates and staff interacting with the warehouse follow all safety policies and procedures. Thoroughly investigate and report all safety accidents and violations in a timely manner. Conduct operations in accordance with OSHA Standards. • Participate in the investigation of accidents, incidents and safety complaints. • Meets warehouse operational standards by contributing warehouse information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying warehouse system improvements. • Assists with the development of process to identify root cause transaction errors that impact all inventory variance postings and ensure plans are in place to correct and eliminate potential for future errors. • Conduct regular warehouse meetings. • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
C. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Diploma in Procurement and Supply, Logistics or Supply Chain Management or a related qualification. • A bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management or a related field is preferred. • 2 to 3 years of operations and/or logistics experience.
D. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Excellent computer skills, knowledge of warehouse software packages and MS Office proficiency. • Experience in safety and health. • Ability to input, retrieve and analyse data. • Hands-on commitment to getting the job done in a timely manner. • Good record keeping skills and strong attention to detail. Ability to multitask, work well under pressure, as well as work at a rapid pace to meet deadlines. Ability to channel, analyse and report data. • Quick and adaptable learner. • Excellent customer service orientation. • Works well with others to accomplish tasks, solve problems and achieve goals • Strong interpersonal and active listening skills as well as the ability to interact effectively and build solid relationships with both clients and colleagues. • Excellent verbal and written communication.
E. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing and reaching • Frequent lifting/pushing/dragging of product • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. • Requires activities involving exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust. • Must be flexible enough to work during normal work hours and outside of those hours where work demands require; including weekends and holidays.
