Tele (Barbados) Inc. is a fully licensed domestic telecommunications carrier operating in Barbados. Formed in 2005 following the liberalization of the telecommunications industry, TeleBarbados was initially a joint venture between Leucadia National Corporation and Light & Power Holdings Ltd. TeleBarbados is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of Leucadia National Corporation a United States based conglomerate listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE:LUK).

TeleBarbados was first to offer commercial data services using state-of-the-art WiMAX technology in the 3.5GHz spectrum and in 2007 it launched residential internet services using the 700 MHz spectrum. TeleBarbados’ state of the art fiber optic network covers the commercial hubs of Barbados, as well as many residential areas, with significant expansions planned.
