Position Overview
Responsibilities of this position include the development and revision of policies related to Information Technology and operations. Administration and coordination of the policy life-cycle,
and maintaining the integrity of the document change log system, structure and process.
Task and Responsibilities
- Implement style and formatting guides to ensure consistency for all documentation.
- May work with other departments to coordinate localized content.
- Create documentation related to Backup Strategy, Disaster Recovery, Applications and Security
- Create change log and policy documents in compliant formatting.
- Attention to detail.
- Review and analyze policy and procedure effectiveness, formulate recommendations, as appropriate, and maintain documentation of changes.
- Maintain functionality and organization within the policy management system.
- Provide direction to staff and/or internal committees on the development, format, structure and approval process for policies and related documents.
- Edit documents for content and consistency in style, grammar, and accuracy.
- Assist in identifying when new policies are needed based on research, national standards and industry best practices
- Attend policy meetings, record proceedings, and ensure follow-up activities are completed by established deadlines.
Requirements
Document specialists must be detail-oriented and able to work with a high volume of documents in a fast-paced environment. They have to be highly organized and process-oriented. They must have excellent oral and written communications skills to interact with all levels of an organization. They must have excellent listening skills, and be able to handle multiple requests while detailing document activity.
(5) years of technical writing experience preparing documents, policies, reports, and briefings targeted to a wide range of audiences including senior management.
(3) years experience in effectively formatting/editing technical publications to include writing, editing and illustration.
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. Business Management, Computer Science, Information Management, Program Management etc) is desired.

- WRITING: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing by use of various forms of business communication via emails, facsimile, letters, reports, memorandums etc.
- SPEAKING: Ability to communicate clearly to all stakeholders (peers, contractors, clients and other staff members).
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
- Ability to apply logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- JUDGEMENT AND DECISION-MAKING: Ability to consider relative costs and benefits of potential decisions and make the most appropriate choice.
- PRIORITIZING: Ability to prioritize and use problem –solving skills to determine the best strategies in addressing issues quickly and effectively.
