Team Leader – Stores/Warehouse

JOB TITLE:            TEAM LEADER 

DEPARTMENT:       STORES

REPORTS TO:        PRODUCTON MANAGER

OBJECTIVES: You are responsible for supervising the daily operations of the department including maintaining inventory, warehouse security and the timely delivery of jobs as well as coaching, training and motivating the warehouse employees in order to achieve organizational objectives in an efficient, cost effective and professional manner.

These responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with the rules and policies established by the company and documented in the Employee and Safety Manuals together with other applicable documents.

You must at all times pay special attention to and promote workplace safety.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

Team Leader Functions

Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to‑

  • Coach, train and motivate your Team for top performance
  • Oversee the operations of your Department to promptly, effectively and economically process all jobs to meet customer delivery requirements
  • Assign tasks and monitor daily, the performance of all Team members in your department.
  • Oversee Team members to ensure consistent conformance to approved operating procedures, quality practices and housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective use of all materials/consumables to surpass manufacturers stated lifespan
  • Enforce safety standards and procedures in  your department
  • Serve and participate effectively on the Production Planning Committee providing suggestions for alternate forms of production that may increase quality, lower cost or improve delivery performance.
  • Work with all other departments to ensure smooth processing of jobs and timely transfer of raw materials through your department.
  • Ensure the security of the warehouse is maintained and enforced
  • Assist the Human Resource Supervisor in conducting reviews
  • Recommend training for members of staff to the Human Resource Supervisor.
  • Recommend disciplinary action when warranted
  • Report all machine malfunction / repairs to the Maintenance and Machinery Supervisor for immediate resolution.
  • Recommend preventative maintenance and part replacements as necessary to the Maintenance and Machinery Supervisor
  • Issue, verify and account for Overnight Stock

Ensure any defect / damage to the vehicle is brought to the attention of the Machinery and Maintenance Supervisor and Production Manager immediately. 

Follow through to ensure that any necessary repairs are conducted

Demonstrate proficiency and consistency in the use of the following: -

  • PACE
  • Job Ticket
  • Clock in procedure
  • Goods Withdrawal
  • Continuous Improvement Form
  • Machine Repair Log
  • Accident Report Form
  • Sound knowledge of procedures contained in the Employee Manual, and other relevant documents and demonstrate consistency in following those procedures.
  • Demonstrate willingness to work together and accept direction from your supervisors and peers to improve quality and performance.

Education and Experience

  • 5 CXC passes including Math & English (I or II only)
  • Pursuing a diploma in Supervisory Management or Procurement & Logistics
  • 2 years working experience
  • Proficient is MS Office – Word & Excel especially
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Forklift training would be an asset
  • Available to work extended and/or shift hours

  • Be flexible and adjust to rapidly changing requirements and schedules.
  • Deal with difficult customer (internal & external) situations successfully.

  • Be an active participant in the finer service.
