Store Manager

Our Client, an international retail chain, has a vacancy for a Store Manager for its branches in Trinidad.

The Store Manager is responsible for directing the efforts of the Store Associates to maintain Company standards of store
presentation and customer service, while achieving store goals for sales, profit and inventory control.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Store Profitability:  Use the procedures and controls necessary to meet or exceed the sales, profit and shrink goals established for their Store.
  • Model for Customer Service:  Consistently demonstrate Customer Service and selling techniques as an example for all Associates.
  • Staff Selection:  Recruit, interview and hire Store Associates. 
  • Training and Associate Development:  Execute the Store Associate Training Program with each Store Associate and implement and execute other skill development programs as directed.
  • Coaching and Counselling:  Provide coaching and counseling to all Associates to ensure effective job performance
  • Scheduling:  Develop a weekly work schedule for Store Associates based on sales forecasts and other business demands
  • Performance Evaluation:  Complete and present Associate performance appraisals according to schedules outlined in Company procedures. 
  • Merchandise:  Analyze, identify and communicate merchandise needs for his/her Store to the District
    Manager. 
  • POS Operation:  Must be the Store expert on Cash Protection Procedures, POS transactions, and paperwork
  • Administration:  Be the Store expert on completing Administrative tasks related to inventory control, personnel files, opening/closing, deposit records and other documents maintained on paper or generated electronically on a Store personal computer
  • Store Maintenance:  Identify and report interior and exterior Store Maintenance issues to the District 
    Manager
  • Deposit Funds and Respond to Emergencies:  Able to transport money to the bank and transport self to the Store to respond to emergencies

Education, Qualifications, Experience & Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with people.  Previous retail management experience is preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management or related field and two (2) years progressive supervisory experience
  • Willingness to relocate with the District or Region is preferred (not mandatory)
  • Ability to life or move goods weighing up to 40 pounds a distance of several feet
  •  Ability to observe and respond to signs of shoplifting or dangerous behaviour
  • Ability to hear and understand Customer and Associate inquiries and oral instruction from supervisors and emergency announcements
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate all registers, backroom computer and security equipment, package Customer purchases and restock shelves with new merchandise at an average rate of 75 to 100 units
    per hour
  • Ability to grasp Store processes and functions and make business decisions based on sales and profitability goals
  • Ability to perform or learn basic computer skills

Monthly Salary:  TTD$12,000
