JOB SUMMARY

The incumbent will be required to administer medical treatment to patients at a hospital or designated institution. To direct and supervise the work of junior medical officers and other clinical staff in administration of medical treatment to patients and serve as a consultant as required.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Organizes, plans and supervises all medical and support services related to the efficient operation of the Psychiatry Department at the Hospital;

 

  • Performs medical examinations and assessment of patients; diagnoses and makes prognoses.

 

  • Determines care management and treatment for patients.

 

  • Documents all care provided and education/information given to patients within their health record in accordance with policy/regulations.

 

  • Serves as Consultant to junior doctors and other clinical support staff

 

MINIMUM REQUIRMENT AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Possession of a recognized Medical Degree.
  • Additional postgraduate training in General Adult Psychiatry/Liaison Psychiatry
  • Five (5) years post qualification experience in related field.
  • Specialist Qualification with the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago.
