Underground / Grid Operations

The Specialist Electrical Fitter is responsible for erecting and maintaining switchgear and other substation equipment, in particular switchgear up to 34.5kV.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform HV switchgear testing and installation of electrical cables
• Install, commission, test and repair transmission and distribution equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance, periodic inspections and troubleshoots faults
• Lead team and allocates work
• Maintain records of all maintenance and repairs
• Provide guidance and training to lower grades and apprentices

Key Job Requirements:

• High School Leaving Certificate or equivalent

• Technical Qualification such as BTEC, NVQ Level 3, City and Guilds (Part II), ONC or the equivalent in an appropriate discipline
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to interpret technical drawings and manuals of various standards

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
