Responsibilities: Reporting to the Senior Social Development Officer, you will be responsible for guiding a process of strengthening community organisation and participation in development, in the areas of governance, social well-being, economic activity and environmental management.
Your core duties will include, but are not limited to:
- preparing new mortgagors to live in NHT schemes and facilitating the formation of community-based organizations in these housing schemes
- overseeing the preparation of community development plans and providing guidance, as necessary
- working with communities to develop income-generating opportunities
- working with the communities to develop and implement programmes to transform the psychosocial, economic and environmental landscape of the communities
- providing counselling and preparing social enquiry reports
- undertaking social interventions and participating in public relations/marketing initiatives undertaken by the Trust, as required
- preparing routine and special reports, as required.
The successful candidate will have:
- BSc. degree in Development Studies, Social Work or related field
- At least two (2) years’ experience in the development field or in social work

Knowledge of:
- Social enterprises
- participatory learning methodologies
The following would be assets:
- Demonstrable knowledge of trends in Social Work; development studies or other related areas
- Experience in implementing community development initiatives which link income generation with sustainable development;
- Experience in designing community driven development projects;
- Work experience in both rural and urban communities, especially in the area of community capacity building.
NB: The incumbent must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable motor vehicle, and be willing to work flexible work hours, on weekends and in potentially volatile situations.
