SENIOR PLANT ELECTRICIAN
Applications are invited from interested and suitably qualified individuals for the position of Snr. Plant Electrician, FortisTCI, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands.
Description
Responsible for carrying out effective preventive and corrective repairs to plant control and electrical equipment and other company assets in a manner consistent with equipment manufacturer’s specification and standard electrical practices and as directed by the Plant Production Manager
Main Duties
Maintain, install and trouble shoot all rotating and stationary electrical equipment with particular emphasis on control systems. All such work will be performed with safety, efficiency and functionality of the FortisTCI system as the guiding factors.
Participate in the layout, construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repairs to FortisTCI facilities by assisting in the preparation and interpretation of blueprints, plans specifications, catalogue data and written and verbal instructions.
Maintain, install and trouble shoot all breakers (high and low voltage) and associated equipment at the Power Plant.
Supervise and mentor apprentices.
Plan and conduct work in a manner consistent with the company’s commitment to the environment and ensure that subordinate employees are likewise in compliance.
Be familiar with and adhere to the safety and operating procedures of the company.
Be calm and competent in response to plant emergencies.
Knowledge and experience with starting, synchronizing, and loading multiple generators unto a power system busbar.
Knowledge of substation operations and maintenance.
Operate Company vehicles as required and in adherence to company policy and the driving regulations of TCI authorities.
Be professional in dress and demeanor as befits an employee and ensure that a good public image of FortisTCI is maintained at all times.
Perform other duties as may be assigned and/or required by system contingencies from time to time.
Minimum Requirements
At a minimum, must possess an electrical technologist, or electrical technician advanced diploma (or equivalent), with particular emphasis on controls systems and protection technology.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in high voltage application preferably in the diesel power generation and substation environment.
Experience working on Caterpillar and Wartsila diesel generators will be an asset.
Familiarity with and competency in the use of computers PLCs and standard computing software programs.
Excellence in interpretation of engineering drawings and manuals.
Professional competency in written and oral communication skills in English.
Experience in high voltage installation, maintenance, and repairs.
Ability to function effectively under emergency situations and thinks clearly and effectively and able to deliver within deadlines and to work under pressure.
Compensation
Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
