Shift Manager-Beverage Division

Job Summary:       

This position will oversee aspects of the food processing operation by directing teams to meet customer needs and achieve standards related to cost, line efficiencies, waste, safety, quality and productivity. This individual must have strong decision-making capabilities and be able to quickly and effectively resolve issues in a fast-paced environment

 

Performance Criteria:

  • Continually develop and maintain a safe, sustainable, and environmentally responsible workplace

 

  • Coordinate activities between departments promoting a collaborative environment to ensure the best business decisions are fostered to meet or exceeding customer expectations 

 

  • Promote the control of manufacturing processes according to approved methods, quality, and cost standards

 

  • Develop, analyse and review a variety of leading/ lagging indicators to improve safety, quality, employee engagement, and cost implementing changes as required, to maximize results     

 

  • Ensure compliance with Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, ISO 14001, OSHE 18001), Customer Policies, and Local Regulatory Requirements

 

Responsibilities:

ü  Direct and cordinate shift operations within company policies and procedures

ü  Ensure materials are requested and available

ü  Smooth running of shift

ü  Maintain a clean and safe Plant

ü  Establish and direct Plant policies and procedures

ü  Responsible for shift production goals

ü  Analyze and implement process flow improvements, to include capabilites for growth

ü  Foster a well trained and motivated staff.

ü  Identify and train Supervisory and support staff. Assist with the employment and training of production staff.

ü  Ensuring close cooperation and good working relationships between all departments during shifts

ü  Conduct employee performance appraisals

ü  Assist with the conducting of internal audits.

ü  To manage with a view to meet ISO 9001, ISO 14000, ISO 18000 and FSSC 22000 standards, regulatory requirements, and any other third party management systems as required

ü  Ensure and Maintain a Safe and Healthy Work Environment

ü  Ensure that the Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems and the Environmental Management Systems are supported in accordance with the OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 14001:2004 standards respectively

ü  Ensure working environment are maintained according to GMP Housekeeping Standards

 

Requirements:

  • Five (5) to ten (10) years experience in a supervisory position including manufacturing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or operations management with 3+ years of related manufacturing management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Proven history of successful goal setting, achievement, and employee management
  • Proven success with efficient production line organisation and output improvement
  • Proven history of successful creation and implementation of training programs and operational procedures
  • Leadership, management and coaching of staff as appropriate
  • Decision making capacity and ability to handle internal conflicts on the shift
  • Strong leader that can motivate and empower the team with an affinity towards employee development understanding and working knowledge of plant equipment, such as Fillers, Labellers, Case Packers and Palletizers
  • Knowledge of Industrial Plant Safety Policies and Procedures, Safety Regulations, Chemical Hazards, and other precautions in order to promote an effective and safe workplace.
  • Results driven with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a high performance manufacturing environment with an unwavering ethical commitment
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex tasks with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels
  • Excellent analytical, planning, administrative and follow-up/ follow through skills
  • Proven ability to apply business principles and practices effectively driving metric and business performance improvements 
  • Lean 5S manufacturing and six sigma experience preferred
