 Job Summary:

 

The Senior Radiographer will be responsible for Radiography, Ultrasound Services and C.T. Services in facilities throughout the Region. The officer will be responsible for the supervision of staff and have direct responsibility for
all Diagnostic Imaging equipment including General and Digital X-Ray, Mobile X-Ray, C-Arm, C.T. Scanner, Mammography and Ultrasound equipment.  The officer will be responsible for achieving the highest possible standards within the Radiology Department, the management of staff and adherence to defined quality standards within the facility.

Key Functions:

Plans, directs and co-ordinates the administrative activities of Radiography and Ultrasound Services within the district/ Institution to ensure efficient patient service and achieve organisational goals.

  • Conducts studies and implements changes in consultation with Radiographers to optimise the internal operations of the Radiology Department. Responsible for overseeing the operations of imaging equipment such as General X-Ray machines, Digital Flouroscopy, C.T. (computerized tomography) Scanner, Mobile X-Ray, C-Arm, Ultrasound and all support equipment.
  • Responsible for adherence to practices in keeping with Health Facilities accreditation standards.
  • Ensures compliance with the Quality Assurance Programme and Reject Analysis Program.
  • Assists Regional Manager in the implementation and monitoring of protocols and policies in the District Health
    Facilities, radiation safety measures to ensure the safety of patients and staff in compliance with local and international regulatory requirements.
  • Makes recommendations in conjunction with the Regional Manager on the operating budget Radiology Services. Recommends cost saving methods and supply changes to ensure maximum economic efficiency in the Region’s Radiology Services. Preparation of proposals for equipment or positions, for Radiography Services
  • Interprets, prepares and distributes statistical data regarding Radiography and Ultrasound Services within the
    Region to include equipment utilization and maintenance.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • The incumbent must be a qualified Radiographer with at least ten (10) years’ relevant working experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience at a supervisory or managerial level.
  • Recognised training and experience in all sub-specialties.
  • Qualifications and experience in Management is an asset.
  • Knowledge of current health care legislation and regulations as relates to Radiology equipment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current trends, principles and practices, safety methods and techniques in Radiography Services.
  • Ability to plan, organise, integrate and coordinate a wide range of administrative services.
  • Quality Management Skills.
