On behalf of our client we are seeking to fill the position of Senior Mechanical Engineer. 

Engineering and System Reliability Group has openings for the position of Senior Mechanical Engineer. This role is mainly responsible for providing mechanical engineering expertise for the design, installation, testing and commissioning of systems for diesel and gas turbine power generating plant. This position also supports operations and maintenance staff in ensuring that plant equipment and systems perform safely and efficiently, maximizing equipment utilization.

 Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates energy planning studies for the development of medium and long-term plant development which considers fuel types, central plant and distributed generation technologies, renewable generation technologies and environmental impacts

  • Develops, prepares and monitors capital and operational budgets

  • Manages engineering projects and participates in the technical aspects of key company projects

  • Liaise with other engineering professionals and external consultants, OEM’s and vendors in the execution of projects and studies

  • Provides leadership and management support for the Energy Supply engineering team  

     Key Job Requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree from a recognized University or equivalent qualification, satisfying the requirement of registration as a professional or chartered engineer

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in engineering, operation and/or maintenance of power generation plant with at least three (3) years at a senior level

  • In-depth knowledge of applicable engineering Codes, Standards and Regulations

  • In-depth knowledge of Energy Supply systems including diesel engines and gas turbine power generating plant

  • Experience with CHP, distributed generation and renewable concepts would be an asset

  • Working knowledge of Government Health & Safety legislation and regulations

  • Strong leadership, technical and project management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including report writing and presentations

  • Experience with budgeting procedures with responsibility for budget development, cost control and variance reporting
