DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops course materials and delivers lectures as directed by the Programme Leader
- Serves as Class Tutor and provides effective counselling services to students on academic, nonacademic and welfare matters as required;
- Participates as a member of one or more course teams and assumes responsibility for the administration and management of specific courses or subject areas within the Diploma programme
- Participates in arrangements for the conduct of examinations, including writing and marking of examination scripts and invigilation duties as required
- Maintains class registers and student achievement records in accordance with the requirements of the Quality Management System of the Chaguaramas Campus
- Develops professional STCW short courses as directed by the Programme Leader;
- Undertakes professional development to update specialist subject knowledge;
- Performs additional responsibilities as required by the Programme Leader.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- A current STCW 1995, as amended, Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer – III/2.
- Recent sea going experience with on-board training experience in the capacity of Second or Chief Engineer and a knowledge of current MCA/STCW regulatory training requirements.
- Excellent English Language oral and written communication skills.
- Preferred:
- An MSc / MBA in a related area
- Previous maritime training experience.
- Engine room simulation experience.
