OPENING: Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for the Position of Principal - St. Martin’s Secondary School. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: June 30th, 2013

JOB SUMMARY:

Plan, direct, or coordinate the academic, administrative, or auxiliary activities of public or private aspects of the St. Martin’s secondary school and to provide effective instructional and organizational leadership to school staff and students.

Experience: 

  • At least ten (10) years’ experience in educational field or five (5) years’ experience in a similar capacity; 
  • Experience as Deputy Principal and/or in educational management 
  • Experience in curriculum planning, articulation and implementation will be an asset, particularly as it relates to the male learning style; 
  • Human Resource Management and Financial Management, including preparation of cash flow budgets.

Location:

St.Vincent & the Grenadines

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Educational Management or related field is required.
  • Master’s in Education preferable but not essential; - Holder or be eligible for Certification in Secondary School Teaching; -
  • Holder or be eligible for Certification in Secondary School Administration; -
  • Continued Education Professional Development

Other: 

  • Skills Certificate, Drivers License, work permit/residency application, Police Record

  • Functional/Technical /Interpersonal Skills: provides positive and effective leadership style, with ability for continuous improvement in classroom competency relevant to the needs of the current students thus creating a learning organization with sustainable financial and human resource management.
  • Decision Quality and Problem Solving: Demonstrates an ability to solve difficult problems and creates effective solutions by incorporating multiple inputs to establish shared ownership and effective action.
  • Managing and Measuring Work/Managerial Courage: demonstrated ability to set clear objectives/ measures and monitors process, progress and results and to intervene unapologetically regarding negative behaviours modeling and facilitating staff and students striving for excellence in all areas.
  • Directing others /Drive for Results: Sensitive to the dynamics of the school, its ethos and pre-determined pathways and to set stretching goals and assign responsibilities that bring out the best in people.
  • Motivating Others/Integrity and Trust: demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate by being transparent and fair so as to create a climate in which people want to do their best – teachers and students alike.
