Sales Manager

The parent company of J&K Signature Styles, a women’s professional clothing retail chain, is seeking a SALES MANAGER.

The Sales Manager is responsible for ensuring that sales targets established by the company are being met at each assigned branch.  This individual ensures that all members of the sales team are at all times adequately trained and equipped to interface with customers at a high level as sales professionals and according to the standards set by the company and in an environment consistent with the Company’s core values.  

 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures sales targets are met for assigned branches.
  • Ensures sales and customer service metrics are being met through the use of effective leadership, training and general mentorship of Branch Managers.
  • Continuously monitors and meets with Branch Managers on their sales performance in order to identify opportunities to coach or assist Branch Managers to maximize sales or overcome sales obstacles. 
  • Partakes in the recruitment of Supervisory team members (Branch Managers, Branch Supervisors and Sales Team lead) by interviewing candidates along with the Branch Manager (where applicable) and the HR Manager.
  • Collaborates with the HR Department to develop sales and product training
  • In collaboration with the HR Department, conducts training and orientation of new supervisory team members in order to sufficiently prepare them to perform their roles according to company standards and under the guidance of the HR Manager.
  • In collaboration with the HR Department, conducts sales training and retraining for all branch employees and ensures through constant monitoring and evaluation that all sales team members including the Branch Manager can demonstrate sales ability consistent with company standards at all times.
  • Reviews and guides Branch Managers in the preparation of their branch specific written plans derived from the company’s annual and strategic plans for the approval of the Chief Operating Officer. 
  • Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer, develops and executes clear and effective sales standards that can act as a guide for training, evaluating and monitoring of branch teams.
  • Utilizes defined corrective action tools including progressive discipline as needed when policies or standards are not met, under the advisement of the HR Manager.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing Manager to develop Sales Promotions that are designed to help the branches achieve sales targets and overcome market obstacles (e.g. holidays, customarily slow periods before customers receive monthly salaries, etc).
  • Uses a combination of store visits, report analysis and meetings to monitor Branch Manager performance against performance expectations and policies; provide ongoing performance feedback and complete Branch Manager performance reviews within defined timelines and according the standards set by the HR Manager.  
  • Collaborates with Purchasing & Operations Department and Branch Managers to ensure that stock in-take is completed in a timely manner and according to company standards so as to maximize sales opportunities for sale of new stock.
  • Ensures store presentation standards are upheld by monitoring and reporting on store presentations against provided Fashion Centres or planograms and displays are attractive and changed according to company standards.
  • Provides relief store management when necessary.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of a team environment by performing other related duties.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a related field.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage an effective sales team.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Previous retail experience considered an asset.
  • A reliable working vehicle is required. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Proven track record in managing and directing a highly skilled, motivated, successful and results-oriented sales force.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and teambuilding skills.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Excellent knowledge of retail operations and management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, inclusive of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 

Salary - $12,000 plus monthly commission, quarterly and annual bonuses when targets are achieved.
