Who are we?
We are part of the Siteserv Group of companies which also includes, Roankabin, DSL and Eventserve. We employ just fewer than 4,000 professional and technical staff globally. Our Sierra arm is currently partnering with Digicel to design and build fibre telecommunications networks throughout the Caribbean islands. This is a massive project and we have already employed over 240 expatriate staff as well as a huge number of local direct and indirect staff.
Summary of Role:
The Health & Safety Manager will report to the Regional Health and Safety Manager for the Caribbean, and will be responsible for developing and implementing the safety, environmental and quality management systems. This person will also design and implement procedures within the Company including accreditation to appropriate standards. You will also be tasked with managing the local Health & Safety Team which includes Trainers, Quality Advisors, Health & Safety Advisors and coordinators.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain the Integrated Management System including appropriate accreditation standards
- Manage the workload of H&S personnel including the development and appraisal of H&S staff in line with individual staff development plans
- Work with Divisional Management in the development, delivery, implementation and maintenance of Divisional specific H&S policies and procedures
- Ensure that the required H&S procedures and policies necessary to deliver the Company/Divisional SLA's / KPI's are developed and implemented
- Prepare H&S reports as required including agreeing KPI's / SLA's for H&S Team
- Daily/weekly reporting to the H&S Director and project management staff
- Ensure internal and external H&S KPI's / SLA's are clearly identified, communicated to relevant people
- Manage the preparation of H&S Reports, Proposals and Plans as required
- Conduct H&S audits
- Manage the implementation of the SHE System throughout the Company
- Manage external suppliers of H&S services and equipment
Relevant experience and skills required:
- Must hold a recognised H&S qualification.
- 2/3 years management/supervision experience
- Ability to manage a large, diverse and dispersed team
- Excellent leadership and communication skills - verbal and written
- Excellent planning, organisational, training, teamwork and presentation skills
- Decisive, self-motivated with the ability to represent the company in a professional manner at all times
- Innovative, creative and proactive with a solutions orientated approach
- Excellent literacy, numeric and IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Full clean driving licence
- Flexibility in line with business requirements
