SENIOR REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN

The Senior Refrigeration Technician is responsible for performing skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, installation and alteration of air conditioning and refrigeration systems and related equipment and facilities.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Refrigeration Technician is responsible for performing skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, installation and alteration of air conditioning and refrigeration systems and related equipment and facilities.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

Inspect, repair, modify and install HVAC equipment including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, chillers and expansion valves.

Conduct regular preventative maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, isolated and ventilating units;   including air conditioning equipment and make necessary adjustments or repairs; service and repair evaporative coolers.

Repair or replace defective parts in units, equipment and their controls.

Repair and rebuild compressors for refrigeration machines.

Perform skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation and alteration of HVAC equipment, components, timers, motors and wiring systems as needed; connect motors to control panels.

Lubricate and service ventilation, refrigeration, air-conditioning motors, fans and other equipment.

Install and calibrate systems; install copper tubing and repair pipes and tubing as necessary; test joints and insulate pipes of refrigeration and air conditioning systems; rebuild pressure and temperature safety valves and water pumps.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Diploma in Refrigeration and or Air-conditioning

At least 5 CXC O’Levels, including Mathematics, Physics and or Chemistry

A minimum of 5 years experience in a related field (repairing and maintaining AC units)
