SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER (INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS) – HUMAN RESOURCES

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Participates in the development and implementation of the University’s Industrial Relations policies, plans, programmes including collective agreements;
  • Researches, interprets and prepares reports and submissions for Union meetings, industrial agreements and resolution of disputes;
  • Assists in monitoring the application of collective agreements and provides technical advice and guidance on Industrial Relations matters to management and supervisors;
  • Represents the University at Dispute and Grievance resolution meetings including at the Ministry of Labour and the Industrial Court;
  • Participates in the formulation of departmental objectives and ensures compliance with the University’s rules, policies and guidelines;
  • Drafts statements of cases, operational, informational and statistical reports, as required;
  • Undertakes assignments and performs other related duties, as required.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field of study
  • Diploma or equivalent certification in Industrial Relations
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience inclusive of two (2) years supervisory experience

 

 

COMPETENCIES:

 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of investigative and research methodologies
  • Sound knowledge of the University’s Policies and Procedures and local Labour Laws and legislation
  • Critical oral and written communication skills
  • Strong customer orientation
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong team orientation
  • Proficient in the use of MS Suite of programs
