Regional Coordinator, Permit Monitoring, Complaints & HSE

The incumbent must ensure that permit monitoring, environmental complaints and breaches of environmental requirements are treated in accordance with the EM Act and its subsidiary legislation.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Provide oversight on the more complicated cases for permit monitoring and complaint investigations.
• Ensures referrals for enforcement on potential environmental breaches are technically and legally sound
• Participate in enforcement hearings and meetings.
• Assist industry in meeting environmental standards through consultations and advocacy
• Oversee the development of TORs for contracts, consultancy services, project plans, Gantt charts for PSIP, internal projects etc.
• Identify and oversee the preparation of reports from the Unit
• Establish and maintain management systems for the monitoring for compliance with environmental rules and regulations and issued permits, administrative orders, consent agreements etc.
• Identify and coordinate training for capacity building for the unit.
• Recommend and implement Unit goals and objectives
• Supervision of staff and reviewing of their work and conducting performance appraisals
• Develop relationships with response organizations and key sister agencies
• Assist with the preparation of Unit Budgets
• Coordinating the Unit’s reports to the Board
• Any other responsibilities as identified by the Departmental Manager or as designated
