Job Summary:

The Radiographer II will be required to co-ordinate staff and workload for the area of work designated, in conjunction with the Radiographer III and to assist in the supervision of junior staff.  The officer is also responsible for providing
high quality of radiographic images using equipment throughout the main imaging areas of the department and provides a mobile service to the wards and theatres.

Key Functions:

  •  Maintains the highest standards of radiographic technique at all times and is aware of and participates in current developments in Diagnostic Imaging skills especially MRI.
  •  Provides a professional standard of communication to all medical, nursing, technical and ancillary staff.
  • Provides a commitment to personal service in the provision of the highest quality of patient care at all times and to actively participate in Programmes to develop excellent standards of patient care throughout the Region, for example through patient surveys, standard setting and auditing.
  • Assists in the operational management of staff and assists in staff selection, appraisal, attendance and development of the team, as required.
  • Ensures all persons entering controlled areas have completed an MRI safety checklist and have removed all personal belongings, which may either be hazardous in the area of strong magnetic field or might be damaged by it.

 Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: 

  • Must be a qualified Radiographer with recognized Degree, Diploma or an Associate Degree.
  • At least three (3) years’ postgraduate experience.  MRI training and experience will be an asset.
  • Registration with the Radiographer’s Board (1985).
  • Knowledge of the departmental Quality Assurance Strategy Programme and compliance with the Magnetic Safety Policy.
