Purchasing and Customs Manager
Key Responsibilities and Performance Standards
- Coordinate and process Purchase Orders in conjunction with the Medi-Pharma, CPA and Security Divisions to ensure timely and accurate supplier requests.
- Manage supplier and other inbound stakeholder relationships to ensure timely and safe receipt of goods as per requirements.
- Ensure raw and packaging materials imported are processed and cleared from the port in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Ensure government regulations are followed in the clearing of goods.
- Manage Customs’ contractors (transport and brokerage).
- Provide operational leadership to the department to ensure human capital is effectively managed and developed.
- Negotiate competitive pricing with air and ocean liners, liaising with freight forwarders and suppliers for cost effective import and export of goods.
- Ensure the timely updating of ABC ranking of items.
- Coordinate with Finance Division for a timely resolution of claims with suppliers and insurance inbound shipments.
- Manages the export process for goods to ensure timely and cost effective dispatch.
- Ensure that the staff are trained and updated on changes in related Government, Purchasing and Customs & Excise requirements.
• Ensure that everyone is kept up to date on changes in the Trade, Tariff and Governmental changes by liaising with the required agencies and attending the necessary forums.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor Degree in a related discipline e.g. Business Management, Economics, Engineering
• 5 years’ experience in Inbound Supply Chain function
• 2 years’ experience in using electronic Purchasing software modules
• Knowledge of Customs regulations and good understanding of Port Clearance processes.
• Knowledge in preparation of documentation for importation and exportation of goods
Salary Range: $17,000- $19,000
