Our client is globally recognized for providing luxury holiday accommodation in Barbados. Due to exceptional high-standard of facilities expected from their clientele, they require a new addition to their professional team to meet their objectives.
OVERVIEW:
To maintain the hotel’s exterior areas; primarily the gardens, pool and beach areas, and general public areas, ensuring a professional and well-manicured appearance at all times.
To manage the contract services associated with these areas and the property security.
To assist the Management Team of the hotel in the smooth and efficient running of the hotel, paying particular attention to the needs of the guests.
DUTIES:
Coordinate staffing to support the daily needs of departments
Preparation of procedure manuals, employee checklists and daily task sheets
Manage the performance of all employees, to include appropriate training and development
Assure quality controls by personally inspecting all exterior areas on a daily basis
Ensure all operating equipment is maintained in working condition by performing routine equipment checks and repairs
Minimize safety hazards by ensuring employees follow all safety rules and procedures
Respond to guest reports immediately
Ensuring guest focus areas are given priority of attention
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and presentation for public areas to include all pathways, guest walkways, the pool and surrounding pool deck and restaurant patio
Implement a preventive maintenance programme for all listed areas, and oversee the general maintenance of all pools and fountains
Act as the property manager relative to all contract services for pools, fountains and gardens, ensuring a professional service is received and conduct an annual tendering process to confirm best quality and pricing
Manage the hotel’s contract for security services to ensure a professional service is performed; and direct activities for security gate spot checks, routine staff locker rooms inspections and vehicle checks
Conduct an annual tendering process for security firms to confirm best quality, fit and pricing
Prepare annual operating and capital expenditure budgets and control departmental profitability’s on a monthly basis
Compile monthly reports in support of all areas listed
Perform Manager on Duty shifts
Keep the General Manager promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
In accordance with the needs of the business, support any area of the hotel upon the request of the General Manager
At all times project a favourable image of the company to the public
Conduct tours of the property at regular intervals, paying attention to peak guests’ movement areas, general condition and security of the property. Follow up on all appropriate actions.
Conduct daily rooms inspections, complete an inspection report and ensure follow up of all necessary actions.
Converse with guests. Offer assistance promptly and where necessary, channel information to Department's Manager/Supervisor for further action.
Support the hotel’s arrival and departure programmes – attend arrival meetings, perform lobby ambassador duties.
Attend General Manager's cocktail reception when on duty.
Complete a written report of activities/events during shift and matters requiring further attention.
Conduct site inspections as requested.
Experience and Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a business related field, MBA is highly desirable,
Minimum of 10 years experience in a management capacity in the hospitality industry.
Must have an in-depth understanding of markets.
Proven leadership ability to influence, develop, and empower employees to achieve objectives with a team approach.
Knowledge of the product and competitive environment is required
