Projects Manager

The Projects Manager will be responsible for the operations, operational expenses and daily management of the Projects department. This includes the overall management of all projects undertaken by Company measured against time and budget to ensure contractual obligations, through each project life cycle are met. The Projects Manager must possess the knowledge, experience and confidence to engage and professionally interact with the design professionals, consultants and clients while successfully directing the Site Superintendents/Project Coordinator, Estimators and other construction related personnel in planning, coordinating and safety executing the work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule and budget



RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Following is a list of the key responsibilities:


The overall Operations department:

 

  • Operational expenses of the department.
  • Oversees the planning and implementation of multiple projects
  • Manage the daily activities of the department and its resources.
  • Oversees the preparation of All contracts, quotations and change instruction documents.
  • Prepare the Master Project Schedule
  • Review the project plans and specifications and comment on the building design, schedule possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems for each project.
  • Oversees the preparation of All project budget and sign off on same.
  • Prepare the general conditions budget.
  • Have confidence in own ability to intelligently communicate with design team/client as effectively lead the trades.
  • Expedite all shop drawings and approvals.
  • Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule on a weekly basis for each project.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of all site meetings.
  • Inform the Client of any errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within the design drawings
  • Monitor site safety and ensure that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety act are enforced.
  • Ensure completion of and track all independent testing and inspections as required.
  • Issue monthly progress draws and invoicing to consultant and client including final holdbacks.
  • Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control.
  • Maintain Control and responsibility for the security and operation of company directly owned equipment on the job site in conjunction with site staff.
  • Control and monitor labour, materials and equipment expenses an All projects.
  • Prepare monthly cost forecasting summaries.
  • Ensure each project adheres to the governance required including the maintenance of full documentation.
  • Identify and evaluate as well ensure appropriate multiple actions are in place for All project risk issues.
  • Ensure ALL project issue are escalated to head of Division through accurate reporting with recommended actions for resolving.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly department reports.
  • Accomplishments of department HR objectives by training assigning, scheduling, monitoring, appraising and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Building, leading and directing ALL members of the projects team to meet projects department objectives.

 

REQUIRMENTS:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Projects and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be professional and a personable leader committed to the overall objective and self-development within the company.
