JOB DESCRIPTION

 

  POSITION:                    MAINTENANCE AND QUALITY CONTROL SUPERVISOR (MQCS)

 

 DEPARTMENT:                QUALITY & MAINTENANCE       

 

REPORTS TO:                   OPERATIONS MANAGER

 

SUPERVISES:                         QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR

 

 

1.0                PURPOSE & SCOPE:       TO DEVELOP, IMPLEMENT AND MAINTAIN QUALITY  SYSTEM

 

This position is two fold with responsibilities in Maintenance and Quality Control activities.

 

  • Maintenance - responsible for monitoring, scheduling, facilitating and carrying ouis t of all emergency, routine and preventative maintenance on all equipment, tooling, vehicles and building throughout the facilities as directed by the Operations Manager.

 

Required to exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative in dealing with day to day issues that occur and will have to balance their time accordingly so as to achieve maximum productivity.

 

 

              KEY DUTIES - MAINTENANCE

               

       Ensure you follow and promote the Company’s Health and Safety Standards, ensuring the proper use of all issued PPE at all times, following OSHA and manufacturers’ recommended safety policies and precautions.

 

           Plan, organise and control all maintenance activities under the guidelines of the Operations Manager, liasing with other department Supervisors as required to manage vehicle and equipment maintenance to support the Company’s operations and reduce downtime.

 

              Perform weekly vehicle checks, scheduling regular service appointments and ensuring yearly inspections are carried out.

 

           Perform daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly checks on all factory and installation equipment, ensuring all are maintained to manufacturer’s specifications.

              Schedule and oversee all building and compound maintenance (plumbing, electrical, structural, inner & outer aesthetics, etc.).

 

             Maintain and provide recommendations for quantity and type of spare parts to stock as inventory.

 

           Manage the Factory’s consumables so as to maintain ideal stock quantities as pre-determined, placing orders on a weekly basis or as needed.

 

           Manage the issuing and retrieval of community based tools, ensuring they are kept in good working order.

 

          Log and make quarterly random checks on all issued tools to installation members, advising the Operations Manager on any discrepancies.

 

       Assist with the timely procurement of raw materials as required by the factory and installation departments for the successful completion of Company jobs.

 

        During slow or inactive periods, assist in other departments (be flexible) as directed.

 

         Perform any ad hoc duties deemed appropriate by management.

 

 

KEY DUTIES – QUALITY CONTROL

               

  • DEVELOP QC SYSTEMS AND STANDARDS
  • REVIEW AND ACT ON DAILY QC REPORTS

 

Monitor feedback on all manufactured products by reviewing all Quality Report Summaries and instituting corrective measures to improve quality standards on recurring errors

 

             TRAINING

               

          Undergo training as required by Management and train staff under your supervision. 

 

 

             ORGANISATION RELATIONSHIPS

               

        The Maintenance & Quality Control Supervisor reports primarily to the Operations Manager, but also has functional responsibilities to all Supervisors, Managers and Executive Directors.

 

 

             JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

 

  • B Sc Mechanical Engineering 
  • Minimum of five (5) CXC subjects including Mathematics and English.
  • Minimum of two (2) years vocational/technical certification and relevant training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

  • Experience in a Machine Shop environment 
  • Knowledge of QC Inspection would be an asset 
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory position 
  • Supervisory experience will be considered an asset

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

               

  • Self-starter with a strong ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and cooperatively in a team.
  • Well rounded maintenance skills set including plumbing, electrical and general maintenance abilities.
  • Ability to work overtime on short notice including weekends
  • Organised and detail oriented
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and follow maintenance instructions.
  • Good interpersonal and oral communication skills to interact effectively with others
  • Good written communication skills to effectively write memos and reports
  • Ability to observe/monitor systems to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • Valid Heavy-T driver’s license will be an asset.
  • Satisfactory background checks combined with satisfactory drug test results.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

This job can be physically demanding therefore the job holder must be physically fit.  You may be required to lift, stoop, kneel and stand for long periods and be able to function in the outdoor and construction site environment.

 

Salary Range:- $ 8000.00
