Job Summary:  

Under limited supervision, assist the Production Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Department to ensure that policies and procedures are being adhered to and maximum production is attained with minimal down time and that this is achieved in a safe environment that fosters a sense of employee loyalty and commitment.  To assist with the co-ordination of activities amongst the Production, Warehouse and Raw Materials & Injection / Blow Molding Departments and act in the Manager’s absence as required.

Core functions

Includes but is not limited to the following:

• prepare Production reports and submit same by required deadlines.
• ensure that raw material and all other necessary items are readily available for your shift.
• assist with the training of new and existing employees in the Department.
• assist with staff scheduling – work assignments; overtime assignments and backup for absent employees.
• organize, facilitate and follow up on issues related to meetings and other special events, as required.
• assist in the coordination, supervision and completion of special projects, as appropriate.
• ensure that Company Policies and Procedures are adhered to at all times and recommend disciplinary action as needed
• provide Production Manager with administrative assistance:

1. ensure leave forms are completed and forwarded to HR for processing in a timely manner
2. maintain vacation roster and ensure employees proceed on vacation within the stipulated timeframe
3. prepare performance appraisal schedules and ensure appraisals are done on time
4. draft disciplinary letters and forward to HR for review
5. monitor attendance records of the Production employees using time and attendance programme as well as weekly time sheets and bring to the Manager’s attention employees who are late and/or absent on a regular basis
6. assist with the weekly payroll -- review and approve weekly time sheets; prepare weekly Piece Rated Sheets; resolve all short pay issues

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma or equivalent in supervisory training
• Certificate / training and experience in Rotational Moulding
• Knowledge of and ability to operate PLC controlled machines
• At least three (3) years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and the Internet
• Must possess excellent interpersonal / communication skills as well as strong planning and organizational skills
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced and heated environment
  • Must be able to work shift, weekends & Public Holidays, as needed
