The Production Supervisor is responsible for the production of Stators, PC Boards, and other component parts manufactured at the St. Kitts facility. Key deliverables for this position are operating the cells at or better than the key performance indicators established for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity. Working directly with the Cell Leaders to improve output and ensure timely material movement and delivery of quality product will be critical to the success of the Production Supervisor. The Production Supervisor will be developed as a high potential candidate for further advancement within the business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned.
· Supervise direct labor union associates. Hold associates accountable to the work rules and policies while also providing feedback to the associates.
· Instill sense of urgency with team around meeting customer quality and delivery expectations.
· In cooperation with the Value Stream Manager, staff members, and cell leaders, execute on daily, weekly, and monthly build plans to ship on time.
· Evaluate cell demand and determine if countermeasures (overtime, staff re-deployment) will be required to meet customer request dates.
· Lead the Gemba Walk to ensure that information captured on the build boards is accurate and valuable to drive improvements to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity (SQDIP).
· Utilize visual management via the SQDIP and build planning boards.
· Help assign daily priorities and enforce productivity expectations with Cell Leaders and associates.
· Maintain a staff of motivated cell operators. Frequently review performance for the manufacturing team.
· Ensure Cell Leaders hold start-up meetings to engage the cell operators in daily build plan
· Train operators in the cells on standard work while involving Quality Supervisor and Quality Manufacturing Engineer.
· Drive cross-training initiatives and mange the cross-training matrix.
· Embrace the culture of continuous improvement. Lead the group through concrete examples of improvement via participating in Kaizen events as needed.
· Maintain the productivity tracker.
· Responsible for following quality system procedures as required.
· Willingness to work extended hours to support evening or weekend overtime as needed.
· Lead the operation in the absence of the Value Stream Manager.
