JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION - Production Manager
Function: Plan and implement the complete production process from sourcing of raw materials to packaging materials, and manufacturing the company’s products effecting GMP and HACCP procedures with the exception of those products lines stipulated by the Managing Director.
Reporting to: General Manager
Supervise: All production workers, production leader and quality control technician.
Specific Objectives:
( A ) Ensure that production processes are carried out correctly.
Activities
(i) Instruct production personnel in correct procedures for the manufacture of different products.
(ii) Ensure that proper documentation of production processes are maintained.
( B ) Ensure that adequate quantities of all materials that are on hand are of an acceptable grade and have been properly stored so as to avoid deterioration in quality.
Activities
( i ) Maintain an inventory of raw material together with projections of the approximate usage rates, Stock out of any raw material must be avoided.
( ii ) Maintain correct rotation and optimum use of ingredients.
( iii ) Instruct the purchasing officer on the schedule of purchasing required.
( iv ) Instruct production personnel on the proper handling of raw material. Loss of raw material received attributable to improper handling or incorrect storage must not exceed 5%.
(C) Ensure that all aspects of product quantity standards are achieved.
Activity
( i ) Monitor the work of the QC technician to ensure adherence to methodology, and correct recording of results of various parameters tested prior to releasing to trade.
( D ) Coordinate the schedule of manufacturing and labeling of finished products and maintain minimum stock levels of each item in consultation with Sales manager.
Activities
( i ) Optimize the deployment of staff to different production lines.
( ii ) Organize line utilization and carry out capacity planning so as to achieve effective line utilization.
( iii ) Attend all production meetings with the Sales Manager and Raw Material Procurement Officer in order to be appraised of forecast changes.
( E ) Ensure the most efficient operation of all processing equipment.
Activities
( i ) Promptly report all malfunctioning equipment to the General Manager
( ii ) Liaise with the maintenance technician regarding inefficient performance or operation of equipment.
( iv ) Monitor the maintenance of all equipment and machinery.
( F ) Manage plant workers.
Activities
( i ) Maintain adequate attendance records with proper management standards.
( ii ) Conduct on the job training for plant personnel.
( iii ) Ensure safe working conditions for employees.
( iv ) Develop guidelines on plant safety for production workers.
(G) Ensure that adequate quantities of packaging are in stock to meet production requirements.
Activity
( i ) Establish minimum stock levels for all packaging reporting when lower level limits are reached to prevent stock out.
(H) Ensure that proper plant sanitation and personal hygiene are maintained .
Activities
( i ) Instruct production personnel in the adherence to documented plant sanitation procedures
( ii ) Devise and maintain systems of cleaning and sanitizing of production areas, vessels and equipment.
( iii ) Ensure that all personnel display acceptable habits of hygiene.
(I) Implement the company's HACCP Plan Activities
(i) Lead the HACCP team and report to management activities/issues involved in the implementation of the company's HACCP Plan
(ii) Assign duties to the various staff members for the proper execution of activities and record keeping for HACCP compliance
(iii) Design new forms for HACCP as needed
(iv) Ensure that the HACCP manual is updated in the prescribed format when changes are made
(v) Keep abreast of the changes in regulations of the various countries to ensure compliance
(vi) Report to management any difficulties experienced in HACCP activities.
(J) Undertake any other assignment as required by the General Manager
