Production Manager

The position reports directly to the Operations/Commercial Director, and is responsible for the supervision of the Production, Quality and Maintenance functions within the Packaging Department. The incumbent will be required to work closely with all members of the management team.

PRODUCTION MANAGER

Summary

The position reports directly to the Operations/Commercial Director, and is responsible for the supervision of the Production, Quality and Maintenance functions within the Packaging Department. The incumbent will be required to work closely with all members of the management team.

Position Objectives:

Provides strategic leadership in the area of production thus ensuring the company maintains the highest level of profitability and becomes the lowest cost producer in the English speaking Caribbean.

Implements international standards of quality and safety.

Maintains a high level of plant and equipment reliability.

Essential Responsibilities:

* To ensure that production targets are met with minimum wastage and maximum cost efficiency.

* To ensure compliance with International quality and safety standards and be proactive in addressing employees’ immediate concerns on safety, equipment, and suggestions for improvement.

* To create a working environment that fosters: teamwork, high performance, safe-conditions and practices.

* To ensure there is a minimum of non-conformances and overtime cost.

* To ensure equipment reliability and uptime while maintaining cost control.

* To ensure that there is a high level of employee morale and productivity while maintaining a low level of absenteeism.

* To monitor agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of the department, including cost efficiencies in the overall operations, according to agreed targets.

Skills:

Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organisational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential, along with a high energy level.

Experience and Qualifications:

A University Degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Production/Industrial Management is required with 3-5 years post qualification experience preferably in food or beverages in the processing or manufacturing industry.  Previous experience in a supervisory capacity is desirable.
