Process Technician
Job Title: Process Technician Department: Operations
Reports to: Production Supervisor Section: Production
To ensure filler operates at optimum filling speed and efficiency.
To ensure all products filled , complies with quality specifications.
To operate the filler as per design standards of the machine
Key Result Areas:
1. Machine Operation
a) Operates filler as per Company requirements.
- Accurately report / record all down time associated with production line on log sheet
- Observe machine performance and report abnormalities on down time sheet
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment
- Perform greasing and lubrication on machine
- Service valves and maintain serviced valves in sanitary condition
- Carry out checks and control process between the pasteurizer and the filler
- Maintain log sheets for control variables within pasteurizer/filler/cooler area
- Ensure all product mixed completes filling process before shift
- Station cannot be left unattended (unless relief is provided) regardless of time as long as product remains to be filled.
b) Ensures changeovers are done in a timely manner to minimize / eliminate start-up adjustments:-
- Changeovers to be verified using test bottles to confirm:-
Ø Machine speed
Ø Conveyor speed
Ø Positioning and accuracy of the product rejecter
- All changeover parts must be cleaned and stored properly on racks provided.
- Perform necessary sanitation on equipment during product changeover.
- Assist maintenance technicians on downtime
2. Quality
a) Ensures all products are produced in accordance with Company standards.
- Process parameters are within specifications and maintain logs
- Rinser / Chlorine levels are maintained at required level (1-3 p.p.m.) and verified hourly.
- Ensure package closure torque and application angle meet specifications on all copper heads.
- Perform net content checks once per shift.
- Apply vortex to filler valves as required.
- Correct labels/packed correctly/stacked correctly
- Proper application and accuracy of labeling of data code for relevant product
- Ensure correct logs are maintained for data code, cap application and waste
- Ensure product is produced according to the process/filling standards by Coca-Cola for hot fill
b) Ensure all packaging materials comply with Company specifications.
- Responsible for proper receiving, handling and return of packaging materials as per Company procedure and specifications.
- Responsible to account for all wastage of packaging materials during production.
- Responsible for ensuring processing area is kept clean at all times.
3. GMP Safety
Ensures that all personal equipment and facility meets required GMP specifications before, during and after production and takes necessary corrective actions when necessary. Control traffic in critical areas to ensure that sanitary conditions are maintained.
4. Equipment
- Filler, Capper and rinser and associated machines in the filler room are cleaned at all times.
- Perform all start-up inspections and maintain logs.
- Perform all in process inspections and maintain logs.
- Perform all end of production inspections and maintain logs.
Perform chemical foaming and wash down at end of production and during product changeovers
5. Facility
Ensure filling room meets GMP requirements:-
- Ensure air conveyor, rinser, filler, and cap bin chute are clean.
- Ensure in feed and discharge bottle conveyors are clean.
- Ensure no discarded packaging materials remain in production area
Ensure all air curtains, insect traps, sinks / taps and hand dryers are functional.
- Ensure doors, floors, ceilings, drains, sinks are clean.
- Ensure no rejected finished product remain in processing area.
- Positive air system functional for filling room and filler enclosure.
6. Personal
- Must comply with Company’s uniform and personnel hygiene requirements for hot fill processing.
Ø Hair maintained short and covered
Ø No facial hair
Ø No jewelry / Watches/chains.
- Must comply with Company’s safety policy and procedures.
Ø Eye and ear protection must be worn at all times in processing areas.
7. This line produces perishable products. You will be required from time to time to ensure complete filling of batches of products, even if this extends beyond your shift.
Knowledge & Experience:
1. Knowledge on Hot Filling equipment will be an asset.
2. Experience in juice manufacturing will be an asset.
A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years experience in a manufacturing environment.
Education:
3 to 5 O’level CXC Subjects
