Principal
Our client, G.C. Foster College of Physical Education and Sport, the only institution of its kind within Jamaica, seeks to identify a transformational, dynamic and visionary manager to serve as Principal.
Profile of candidate
The successful candidate should be a leader with a verifiable track record at a senior level with excellent financial, people management and administrative skills to drive the transformation of the institution into the future. Ideally, the candidate should possess:
• strong communication skills at all levels written and orally;
• excellent interpersonal, relationship building and general management skills;
• sound financial management skills and experience or the ability to manage a multi-million dollar budget;
• excellent knowledge of local sports; and
• strategic leadership and planning skills with hands-on and results-oriented attitude.
Core functions
Reporting directly to the Chairman of the Board and the Ministry of Education, the Principal will have the responsibility for providing strategic and operational management of the institution and ensuring the mandate of the College is achieved. As the de facto CEO, he/she will work closely with the Board and the Ministry of Education in implementing the key strategic changes envisioned in transforming the institution. Specifically, the successful candidate will be required to:
• position the College as the premier physical education and sport education institution in Jamaica and the Caribbean;
• provide strategic and instructional leadership and oversight of the management of the day-to-day operations of the College and enable the achievement of the targets and benchmarks set by the Board;
• ensure the objectives of the programmes of the College are clearly articulated and bought into by all parties involved in its implementation; and
• be accountable to the Board for the expenditure management and revenue enhancement of the College.
Professional qualification
The successful candidate should possess:
• a minimum of a Masters degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing or equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution;
• a minimum of 5 years senior management work experience; and
• experience in educational administration will be an asset.
