We invite applications for a new Digicel Opportunity - Power Systems Engineer
Primary objective of the job
Power Systems Engineer installs and maintains power generating systems and related
electrical equipment to ensure high availability.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all Electrical supply systems to
    ensure maximum availability. This includes but not limited to Diesel and Solar powered
    generators, DC battery bank, Rectifier bank, Inverters, UPS, Transfer switches, breaker
    panels, etc.
  • Performs installation, testing and commissioning of generators, solar and other power
    systems used on the network.
  • Manage the AC and DC power distribution systems to ensure full compliance with local
    and international electrical codes.
  • Manage daily utilization of all power supply systems and ensure they are adequately
    dimensioned to support the needs of the network.
  • Maintain recommended grounding standards at all cell sites and switch buildings.
  • Continuously devise energy saving measures for cellular sites and switch buildings.
Academic qualifications and experience required for job
  • Degree/Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an Electrical and Mechanical environment
Functional Skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability, both electrical and mechanical
  • Understanding of A.C and D.C industrial and domestic power systems
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be a licensed driver with experience driving manual transmission vehicles
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and weekends
