POSITION SUMMARY:

 

As the Planning and Inspection Superintendent for this growing, dynamic company, your primary objectives are to:

  • Manage and implement department policies, strategies and programs in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Direct & supervise the Planning and Inspection team providing the relevant expertise and ensuring the application of the appropriate standards/regulations are utilized in the planning of maintenance activities/projects and inspection of equipment associated with gas processing, production and export.
  • Direct and coordinate activities to ensure the reliability, efficiency, safety and availability of plant systems and equipment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES / KEY FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Provides expertise for all Planning and Inspection activities and approves all associated documentation.
  • Leads the development and implementation of the standard planning processes and procedures.
  • Leads the planning and scheduling of routine maintenance activities, turnarounds, major capital projects, overhaul and repair programs in accordance with the Work Management System for all plant equipment minimizing downtime, while ensuring HSEQ and production targets are met.
  • Administers the work management system including backlog management and cost reporting for routine, emergency and outage works.
  • Ensures that maintenance team members adhere to the Work Management System and that the Computerized Maintenance Management System is accurately updated to capture real time information, lessons learnt and historical data through regular audits.
  • Develops, maintains and implements equipment preventive maintenance, condition monitoring and reliability engineering practices for all plant equipment.
  • Conducts annual review of the Mechanical Integrity program and equipment audits for continuous improvement.
  • Ensures that equipment maintenance strategies are adequately set up, communicated and implemented and monitors their effectiveness; makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Actively promote strategies to eliminate repeat failures (defect elimination, the identification of bad actors, Root Cause Failure Analysis) thereby improving asset integrity, availability of plant equipment while optimising maintenance and operational costs.
  • Approves inspection procedures, analyze and interpret inspection data/reports to make recommendations/decisions for corrective actions and improvements as required.
  • Support in response to short and long term technical issues and provide resolution to tactical problems.
  • Leads reliability programs, develops and update reliability centered maintenance and inspection programs based on industry best practices.
  • Assures and verifies performance of inspection/Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) contractors and evaluate their competencies.
  • Leads, communicate and implement policies with respect to equipment long term planning, obsolescence/end of life, repair and replacement actions.
  • Conducts technical evaluation and provides recommendations on purchase of critical spares and inventory items.
  • Ensures that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are achieved and addresses areas of shortfall.  
  • Support in the preparation of Long Term Planning (LTP) and annual budget implementing cost control practice consistent with the company objectives.
  • Participates in HSE, Trip investigations, job hazard analyses and prepares the related reports as necessary tracking department actions as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all ISO policies and procedures.
  • Conducts safety walks, safety meetings and housekeeping inspections as required.
  • Executes responsibilities as designated in the permit to work system.
  • Prepares technical, monthly and other reports as required.
  • Perform all other related job functions as required.

 

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related field from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 10 years in the Oil & Gas Industry with at least 7 years at supervisory level with proven experience at handling large scale EPC contracts, inspection/maintenance activities and turnaround management.
  • An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.

 

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:

 

  • Knowledge of process plant maintenance, reliability, operations and project management in the petrochemical industry.
  • Knowledge of maintenance, planning and scheduling concepts.
  • Knowledge of maintenance strategies, reliability programs, condition monitoring techniques for Mechanical (static/rotating) and E&I equipment.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards and its applications (API, ASME, IEC, IEEE)
  • Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Knowledge in Process Safety Management and ISO quality systems
  • Team player with excellent communications and interpersonal skills

  • Previous experience directly related to Methanol manufacturing or similar processes will be an asset.
