PLANNING TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY:

To develop efficient and correct layouts for Outside Plant communication and CATV systems. This includes map verification, planning, and actual layout.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Maintains existing plant layout drawings, as well as layout for new equipments and lines in existing facilities and new plant layouts.  Prints out information as required.
• Designs minor to major Outside Plant communication and CATV systems.
• Prepares drawings and justification for work authorizations. 
• Gains info from maps, improvement plans and field surveys. 
• Transposes data and mapped information to the information system.
• Makes engineering changes to facilitate construction.
• Coordinates permits, rights-of-way, and joint usage with local governments, utilities, developers and contractors. 
• Performs site inspections for new services and makes recommendations.  Prepares estimates of labor and material costs. 
• Prepares analyses and information from maps and improvement plans. 
• Reviews improvement plans for planning outside cable TV extensions. 
• Liaises with outside audit to verify information.
• Ensures that necessary information is passed to the appropriate departments and personnel
• Performs any other duties related to job description.
