Physiotherapist

The B.V.I Health Services Authority a client-centred healthcare organisation invites qualified and professional applicants for the position of Physiotherapist.  ThePhysiotherapistis responsible for evaluating patients referred by the physician, and develops and administers appropriate physiotherapy treatment to preserve, develop and restore optimal physical functions of clients in the hospital, community or clinical setting.

 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to):

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Diagnoses patients referred by physicians.

 

  1. Develops and carries out appropriate treatment plans.

 

  1. Carries out continuous evaluation of patients, adapting treatment and care plan as necessary to attain restoration of optimal physical function.

 

  1. Counsels and advises patients and their family regarding their condition.

 

  1. Communicates with unit supervisor, other health care team members, and when appropriate, family members regarding patients’ progress, problems and plans.

 

  1. Coordinates and carries out in-service training programmes for hospital staff to educate personnel in safety measures.

 

  1. Assists in the coordination and execution of public education and screening campaigns and programmes.

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Education & Experience

  • MSc. In Physiotherapy from an accredited institution. 

  • At least five (5) years of experience in in-patient and out-patient care.

     

    Licenses and/or registrations

  • CPR trained with a valid certificate.

     

    Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of standards and practices of physiotherapy.

  • Sound knowledge of standard patient care

     

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

     

  • Excellent knowledge of standard physiotherapy equipment.

     

    Physical Demands

  • Active – lots of walking, standing, bending, twisting, and stretching.

     

     

    Work Environment

  • Normal clinical environment

  • Exposure to biological, physical, chemical, and radioactive hazards.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases

  • Exposure to violent individuals

  • 24 hour emergency on-call ( including weekends and public holidays)

     

    SALARY:

  • Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
