Job Purpose
Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from a recognized tertiary learning institution with four (4) years experience in Physiotherapy.
Summary of key duties and responsibilities:
- Perform and document an initial exam, evaluating data to identify problems and determine a diagnosis prior to intervention.
- Plan, prepare, or carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, or prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
- Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enter information into computer.
- Confer with the patient, medical practitioners, or appropriate others to plan, implement, or assess the intervention program.
- Review physician's referral and patient's medical records to help determine diagnosis and physical therapy treatment required.
- Discharge patient from physical therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide for appropriate follow-up care or referrals.
- Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.
- Participate in home visits and home healthcare when necessary
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the applicable health and safety laws and physical therapy code of conduct
- Ability to apply good biomechanics during patient treatment sessions including coordination and balance training
- Ability to train, teach, guide and direct subordinates effectively
- Ability to think creatively
- Ability to prioritize and multi task.

- A valid driver’s license would be an asset
The successful candidate must be motivated and enthusiastic and will be required to perform management duties in the absent of the Physiotherapy Supervisor.
Salary will be paid in accordance with the terms stipulated by the Government of St. Lucia in the Estimates of Expenditure commensurate with experience and qualifications for the post.
