The South-West Regional Health Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following position:

PHARMACIST II

The Pharmacist II will be responsible for the operation of the dispensary in the hospital, health centres and general health offices. The incumbent will also be required to assist the Senior Pharmacist in the supervision of subordinates and to ensure that work is performed in accordance with professional standards.

Key Functions:
1. Supervises the non-medical functions of a small district hospital such as ordering drugs, medical supplies, food supplies and miscellaneous equipment.
2. Assists in drug inspection duties and issues import and withdrawal certificates and certificates of essentiality for the release of imported medical supplies under control; also maintains records and documents for the Drug Inspectorate.
3. Inspects all incoming and outgoing bulk stores at Central Stores and reports any error or omission.
4. Maintains inventories and makes periodic checks to ensure that stores received are well accounted for.
5. Supervises lower level Pharmacists and non-professional staff together with the operating of dispensing services.

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
• The incumbent is required to possess a Pharmacist's licence recognized by the Pharmacy Board of Trinidad and Tobago.
• The incumbent must also have considerable experience as a Pharmacist I or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Knowledge of the Pharmacy Board Ordinance and related Ordinances.
• Knowledge of Civil Service Rules and Regulations and Financial Instructions.
• Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of professional pharmacy.
• Ability to prepare and dispense drugs and pharmaceutical Products.
• Ability to maintain inventory, prepare reports and other records.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, other employees and the public.
