POSITION SUMMARY:
 
The PAYROLL OFFICER is responsible for processing and updating payroll related transactions and benefits for all Digicel (Trinidad and Tobago) Limited employees and ensuring data integrity in line with company policy. Also assist the accounts payable team in ensuring that all invoices are entered on accounting system.
 
KEY FUNCTIONS:
  1. Continuously seeks and capitalizes on opportunities to exceed the expectations of customers (internal and external) by placing a keen interest on understanding and effectively resolving customer-impacting issues in a professional and result-oriented manner.
  2. Ensures the timely and accurate processing of monthly and fortnightly payroll.
  3. Processes all salary changes in HrP5 for increment, promotions and incentives purposes.
  4. Ascertains salary advances, deductions and reimbursements are processed in an accurate manner.
  5. Ensures HrP5 is updated for all relevant changes across all departments.
  6. Responsible for TD1 and TD4 processing for all employees.
  7. Ensures all statutory deductions are processed to the relevant authorities in a timely manner.
  8. Prepares the monthly payroll journals and enter into the General Ledger.
  9. Prepares the monthly reconciliations between the General Ledger and the Sub Ledger.
  10. Remits the salaries via ACH to all employee bank accounts in a timely manner.
  11. Prints and distributes pay slips to Department Heads.
  12. Processes all payroll activities in strict confidentiality.
  13. Performs any other duties the Finance Operations Manager deems appropriate
  14. Enters invoices accurately into accounting system and ensures that purchase orders are matched to invoices.
  15. Reviews postings on system to ensure that costs are entered correctly to relevant department.
  16. Liaises with other departments on queries on invoices, purchase orders and authorization for payments.
  17. Prepares Supplier Reconciliation Statements on a weekly and monthly basis, and liaises with suppliers regarding queries on invoices and payments.
  18. Maintains up to date systems and ensure that all documents are properly referenced and filed.
  19. Performs related work: the duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to that position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 1-2 years relevant work experience in a Payroll Function and will be pursuing an accounting qualification.
  • Experience in and with the mobile telecommunications sector would be considered a valuable asset.
  • An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS AND REASONING ABILITY:
  • Knowledge of a second language (Spanish, French, etc) would be considered a valuable asset.
