PROFESSOR – THE CARIBBEAN ACADEMY OF FASHION AND DESIGN

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provides academic leadership and strategic direction to enhance the Caribbean Fashion and Design (CAFD) and influence the future of fashion;
  • Establishes mechanisms for global linkages with leading fashion schools;
  • Fosters and nurtures the development of fashion incubators;
  • Fosters an environment of innovation and entrepreneurship among faculty and students of the CAFD;
  • Establishes mechanisms for UTT spin-offs in the fashion industry;
  • Fosters the development and maintenance of strong industry and private sector linkages;
  • Creates effective marketing plans and advertising strategies for the CAFD;
  • Develops a research framework around new materials and innovation in fashion and design;
  • Monitors, on a regular basis, runaway fashion shows, fashion publications, major manufacturers and merchandise markets;
  • Organizes photo shoots, magazine events, and fashion shows.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Terminal degree in Fashion/Design or closely related field from a recognized and accredited university

  • Minimum of twelve (12) years experience in the professional field of Fashion and Design with five (5) years or more teaching experience in higher education

  • Demonstrated professional activity (portfolio, collections, and presentations at conferences) at local and international level events exemplified in a portfolio and dossiers that capture collections

  • Ability to develop and maintain an active network of industry contact that is synergistic and complementary to the Fashion and Design programme

  • Demonstrated expertise (theory and practice) in the subject field or discipline

  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills

  • Sound pedagogical skills

  • Strong analytical and leadership skills

  • Creative and innovative thinking

  • Demonstrated commitment to professional excellence and continuous growth within the subject field or discipline, including advanced teaching methods to support student learning and career objectives

  • Demonstrated potential for artistic productivity

  • Ability to work with campus-based personnel and students
