We are an accredited Seventh-day Adventist institution, located in the beautiful Maracas Valley in Trinidad, West Indies. We are committed to training students to go beyond excellence in academics to recognize obligations to their creator and to commit to service. We offer a wide range of academic programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and currently have in excess of three thousand students. As we continue to expand we seek an academic visionary at the doctoral level with a passion for Adventist Christian education who is able to turn passion into action. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
The President of the University is the Chief Executive Officer of the institution. The ideal candidate will be a proven outstanding leader who can:
Articulate and execute a compelling vision for academic excellence
effectively fundraise
strongly advocate for institutional resources
develop a strong sense of community with an appreciation of shared governance
demonstrate an unfaltering commitment to diversity, and
actively foster an environment of intellectual pursuits and personal growth for students, staff and faculty
The President reports directly to the Board of Trustees through its Chairman and operates in accordance with national policies and procedures governing universities in Trinidad and Tobago and the policies and procedures of the Governing Body of Seventh-day Adventists.
A terminal degree in any academic or professional field
At least 10 years of visionary and progressive leadership and prudent management at an executive level in education, business, public, and/or government service.
At least 5 years of experience at the senior administrative level of a University
A record of excellence in teaching, research, and service activities at a university would be a definite asset
Must have an appreciation for instructional and information technologies, an understanding of national and international trends, issues, and demographics affecting the university, and a demonstrated capability in institutional advancement, including fundraising and legislative relations.
Excellent knowledge of the SDA education system
