PHARMACY MANAGER

Applications are invited to fill the following vacant positions at St. Jude Hospital, St. Lucia:

PHARMACY MANAGER

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must have:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Studies or Pharmacology from a recognized tertiary institution plus three (3) years’ experience in a hospital environment.
  2. Certified in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Microsoft Excel and Access
  3. Certificate in Supervision or Leadership, plus five years supervisory experience in similar position.

Summary of key duties and responsibilities:-

  1. Supervision of the Pharmacy staff
  2. Responsible for the provision of clinical pharmacy service to wards and departments and the future development of these services including active provision of pharmaceutical care to inpatients.
  3. Provide advice and analysis on budget’s forecast, differential drug cost and activity information to the hospital administration.
  4. Deputize the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee and to take a leading role in the selection of safe, effective and economic use of pharmaceuticals at the hospital
  5. Perform and maintain an efficient performance appraisal for pharmacy staff
  6. Plans , administer and implement pharmaceutical policies and procedures

Skill, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Competent in the use of computers and be familiar with database software.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong knowledge of medical records terminology
  • Knowledge of medical oriented software
  • Sound knowledge of records coding features
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent managerial, supervisory and organizational skills.
  • Excellent Human Relation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make sound judgment and to follow instructions in carrying out tasks
  • Ability to assess situations, use own initiative and take appropriate action
  • Ability to work under pressure and tolerate stressful situation
  • Ability to work flexible working hours in order to discharge duties efficiently and effectively

Applicants Requirements

  1. Registered or be eligible to apply for licensure with the St. Lucia Pharmacy Council to practice in St. Lucia
  2. A valid driver’s license is required

Salary will be paid in accordance with the terms stipulated by the Government of St. Lucia in the Estimates of Expenditure commensurate with experience and qualifications for the post.
