Our Client is looking for a Paralegal to assist in the running of a small law firm.

Title: Paralegal

Salary: $5,000-$6,000

Position Summary:

The incumbent is responsible for providing support and enhancing the effectiveness of the attorneys through drafting of letters and legal documents, diarizing of Court dates and scheduling and following up on all work related matters. The incumbent will also be required to review legal documents to ensure compliance with the Civil Proceedings Rules where applicable and to conduct legal research when required.  

 

Duties/Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities):

 

 

  • Identifies appropriate laws, judicial decisions, legal articles, and other materials that are relevant to assigned cases, when required.
  • Performs legal, factual research involved with cases, when required.
  • Assists in corporate secretarial duties such as preparing documents for board meetings, drafting resolutions, constitutional company documents.
  • Assists attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and corporate meetings.
  • Drafting legal documents, pleadings and correspondence with various parties involved with cases.
  • Ensures compliance with statutory filing requirements and other regulatory codes and acts.
  • Maintaining attorneys’ court diaries and keeping it up to date as to the status of all matters before all courts.
  • Reviewing, verifying, and routing correspondence, reports and legal documents
  • Making summaries of depositions, interrogatories and testimony
  • Maintaining and organizing reference files so that they are easily accessible to attorneys.
  • Checks and edits legal forms and documents for accuracy.
  • Organizes and tracks case files and file all documents in all courts.
  • Performs other related duties, as required

 

Experience/Educational Requirements:

 

 

  • 3-4 Years work experience in a similar role
  • 4 A level Passes.
  •  
  • Bachelor’s degree in law will be an asset.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent time management
  • Strong Research, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail
