Hardware & Lumber Ltd., a Jamaican company retailing and wholesaling building materials, home improvement supplies, household items and agricultural products, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of:
OPERATIONS MANAGER,
AGROGRACE
Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the General Manager - AgroGrace, the selected candidate will support the achievement of the company’s commercial and sales strategy, resulting in business growth and increased profits within targeted channels and across AgroGrace network of stores.
Principal Responsibilities
_ Coordinate the AgroGrace branch network, ensuring that targets are met; supported by initiatives including execution of category plans and implementation of merchandising standards and compliance with policies
_ Ensure the implementation and execution of sales plans and objectives in the AgroGrace network
_ Support the achievement of customer loyalty by assisting with the implementation of effective
programmes
_ Assist with sales and marketing budgets and forecasting activities, and drive performance objectives
accordingly
_ Assist with the development and execution of initiatives for product development and retail growth.
_ Collaborate with key stakeholders in the Industry on special projects, as well as provide technical
support.
_ Support management by providing analysis for evaluating new business opportunities
_ Prepare periodic reports indicating, but not confined to sales volume and potential sales opportunities
_ Negotiate with key customers and execute major activities with them.
Key Competences
_ Advanced technical knowledge of the Agricultural industry, inclusive of pesticides, products and crop production techniques,
_ In-depth knowledge of the various regulatory requirements associated with the importation and sale of agricultural products
_ Proven ability to liaise and negotiate with international suppliers and partners of seeds, pesticides andother agricultural products
_ Knowledge of sales and customer management, preferably in a Retail environment
_ Strong leadership and strategic thinking ability
_ Highly developed communication and presentation skills
_ Proven problem solving & decision making skills
Minimum Education & Experience
_ Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or equivalent qualification
_ Minimum five (5) years sales and/or commercial experience, at least two (2) of which should at least
be at a supervisory level.
