Summary of Role:

 

The Telecoms Field or OSP (Out Side Plant) Engineer performs all aspects of OSP engineering for copper and fibre projects and will be heavily involved in activities including the following:

Development of OSP planning/design documentation, plans and specification assembly

Special drawings/plant records, bid processes, construction management documentation, and any other duties to ensure projects are completed successfully.

The OSP will meet or exceed business unit goals while maintaining quality standards, controlling expenses, and following company and business unit directives and practices.

The successful candidate must meet a majority of the knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience requirements outlined below.

Design, provision, document, and direct Outside Plant and Fibre Optic Cable (UG, Aerial, Buried), with manhole and conduit design. 

Support the design and engineering process by planning and preparing initial drawings for construction of new, and removal or rearrangement of existing fibre optic and/or copper cables, and conduits.

Oversee designs in accordance to customer specifications and guidelines

Works with outside agencies to obtain right of way approvals and coordinate projects with other utilities.

Acquiring permits and or private easements if required.

Able to read and understand highway/road prints, be able to identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, select routing of lines and equipment required for work projects.

Ensures the integrity of the customer access network is maintained and provides support for the deployment of access technologies.

May be required to provide on-site construction inspection to ensure design specifications are met.

Create make ready analysis, pole surveys, QC prints, preparation of prints and assist in preparing bid documentation.

Delegates and assures that all crossing agreement requests are allocated and response acquired.

Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of Sierra Support Services.

Must have experience with Auto-CAD.

Experience in fibre relief jobs and fibre service jobs as GPON, FTTC, FTTB, and.

Perform the upper-level complexity of jobs and functions within GPON design.

Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

HFC experience would be an added advantage

Must be prepared to work and live in the Caribbean region.
