OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (Mental Health)

The B.V.I Health Services Authority a Client-Centered Care Organisation invites qualified applicants for the position of  OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (Mental Health).  TheOccupational Therapist  will be responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive rehabilitation/vocational program to cater to persons with mental disorders including therapy services

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to):

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Work with mental health staff and other agencies to develop and implement comprehensive occupation/vocational therapy services.

2. Coordinates the occupational therapy services to meet the needs of a variety of patients.

3. Screens and evaluates referred patients through a variety of functional and behavioral assessments.

4. Establishes treatment plans for patients in collaboration with mental health team.

5. Provides therapy through various activities to assist patients in developing and self-care skills.

6. Provide vocational therapy to enable patients to achieve some level of independent living and assist with job placement.

7. Supervises occupational therapist aide and develop skills in treatment.

8. Document, maintain, implement and adhere to policies and procedures regarding case records along with patient confidentiality.

9. Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings, clinical meetings and workshops to enhance professional development and maintain standards of methodology and techniques.

10. Assist Mental Health Nurse Manager with organizing and successfully executing promotion and activities relevant to Mental Health.

11. Assist in preparing the annual budget.

12. Any other miscellaneous duties assigned by the Director of Mental Health Services and other working colleagues to enhance the growth and development of services being rendered.

Minimum Requirements:

Education & Experience

• BSc. Occupational Therapy – Accredited. 

• At least 2 years of clinical experience working in a mental health facility in a position of Occupational/Vocational Therapy.

   

  Licenses and/or registrations

• None required.

   

  Knowledge

• Sound Interpersonal skills

   

• Sound oral and written communication skills

   

• Mature person with good judgment and the ability to manage group programs.

  SALARY:

• Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
