Job Summary
This Administrator level position is responsible for managing all Network Management Systems and platforms for CWC. Primary functions for this position is to manage and improve Network Management Systems, standardize and maintain monitoring, alerting and reporting from the NMS.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Update the NMS with network elements for all networks including topology diagrams within the NMS.
* Audits NMS to ensure all network elements exist.
* Set KPIs for Network and Computing Infrastructure performance.
* Configure automated reporting for Technology teams.
* Manage network management and element management system issues and feature requests, working with internal and external customers and system vendors.
* Ensure backups are being performed on network management systems.
* Stay abreast of latest network management technologies and help determine strategic technological direction.
* Lead assignments proactively researching, recommending, and specifying network management solutions.
* Train Network Operations and Engineering personnel in network management applications.
* Monitor license compliance, monitor and fine tune system performance, and manage system patching and upgrades.
* Setup Alerts for varying Technology teams based on requirements.
* Specify and maintain the standards for NMS management, alert management and Network Diagrams.
* Review, develop & evolve best encoding profiles for baseband and multi-bitrate encoding keeping track of encoder developments for picture quality enhancements.
* Troubleshoot and resolve any issues, lead on issues with NMS.
* Works with vendors to resolve issues, propose design changes and ensure NMS platform is stable and robust.
* Ensuring consolidation & Convergence of of EMS to to reduce operating cost and complexity in the operations
* Review and identify EMS for integration to achieve NOC 100% visibility and proactive monitoring
* Review and identify EMS for decommissioning
* Identify Systems without monitoring capability and make recommendation for improvement
* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Manager, Director or Vice President
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
Experience
* 5+ years of technical experience working in a networking and NOC environments.
* 3+ Years experience with networking equipment (Cisco/Juniper).
* 3+ Years Experience with Solarwinds, Cacti and Netcool or similar Network Management systems.
Skills/Competencies
* Must be able to understand networking and IP Addressing.
* Ability to provide critical information in a clear, concise and quick manner and posses excellent oral & written communication skills.
* Must be able to understand SNMP.
* Must be able to conduct SQL queries.
* Ability to troubleshoot application and server issues
* Ability to function in a fast paced environment.
* Ability to work with tight deadlines, while managing Priorities.
* Punctual, regular and consistence attendance.
* Self motivated with strong interpersonal skills to add positively to team dynamic.
* Ability to provide advanced technical assistance and comprehensive problem resolution
* Must have demonstrated problem solving skills and possess ability to work nights and weekends.

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Computer Science or equivalent work experience in lieu of formal education to be determined by hiring manager.
