Network Engineer
Job Purpose:
Install and maintain data network to provide solutions to internal and external clients. Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and software problems and apply solutions to ensure efficient and minimal interruption of business operations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Install, configure, and maintain network hardware, including routers, switches, and wireless access equipment.
2. Install, configure, and maintain network security using firewalls, VPN concentrators, IDS/IPS devices, and other related security equipment.
3. Install and maintain structured cabling systems.
4. Provide users appropriate access levels to the company network and to the Internet.
5. Order, install, configure, and maintain leased WAN circuits.
6. Work with telecommunications carriers to troubleshoot leased circuit problems.
7. Work with external clients to establish connectivity.
8. Monitor and maintain log files for network infrastructure equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN concentrators.
9. Configure and maintain encryption keys.
10. Monitor and maintain configuration backups for network infrastructure equipment.
11. Maintain internal and external IP address allocations for the enterprise.
12. Prepare and maintain documentation of the network environment, including connectivity and hardware and circuit inventory.
13. Prepare documentation for work to be performed within the network environment.
14. Perform periodic audits of network equipment to verify software license compliance and adherence to best-practice security techniques.
15. Analyze network performance and traffic.
16. Troubleshoot network hardware and software problems.
17. Research and recommend network hardware and related software for future projects.
18. Communicate status to internal team members.
19. Adhere to negotiated due dates and acceptable budgeted hours of project assignments for completion as expected by internal and external clients.
20. Position requires coordination and approval with the US Network team for any changes, deployments and upgrades to the HGS network infrastructure

Minimum Job Requirements:
- CCNA or CCDA certifications and equivalent experience
·-Associates Degree in Information Technology related program or comparable experience to achieve proficiency in the theoretical and practical application of network administration.
· Knowledge of network topologies; configuration of networking hardware/software and troubleshooting; and computer trends and technology;
· Proficiency with use of personal computer and office automation tools, especially Windows and MS Office. Basic PC/Server knowledge.
· Good written communication skills and strong verbal communication skills, particularly with end-users who have varying degrees of computer knowledge
· Self-starter with a willingness to ask questions and actively seek out answers
· Ability to work closely with others as a solid team player
· A positive attitude and ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment
